This release had already been in testing since last year. Large parts on the server side of opsi were also updated. This does not only improves maintainability, but also provides a good basis for implementing future developments.
These updates are consequently based on Python 2.7 and systemd. Both of them being de facto standards in current Linux distributions. This release is also supplemented with new tools to make the work with opsi easier and faster.

With the release of opsi 4.1 the continuous development will be focused on this version. Maintenance of opsi 4.0 will be thus continued until the end of 2018 and then will be discontinued. The announcements can be found on the news section of the forum at https://forum.opsi.org/
opsi multidisk support
The new multidisk mode offers support for operating system installation on systems with multiple hard disks drives.
The target hard disk can then be specifically selected. You can also select the first SSD or the first rotating disk drive.
Update of the management interface opsi configed
With this release an extensive update of the configuration editor opsi configed is available. The new version runs on opsi server version 4.1 as well as on version 4.0.7.
The new interface contains numerous improvements in terms of usage. These include new depot selection options, improved navigation in the client tree, additional support for multiple selections for important client functions (software inventory with batch output of results), the ability to reset individual client property values to the server default instead of all values in block.
License management has undergone the most extensive revision. Free text search functions for faster data set selection are now available for all the tables. The assignments between license pool and software ID are equipped with additional structuring options, making it much simpler to work with this elementary function.
The opsi extension VHD-reset focuses on the educational usage, specifically in school and training environments.
The aim is to quickly recover training computers using Windows Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) technology.
An installation of Windows (via opsi) does not take place in a partition but in a' Virtual Hard Disk'. At the same time, a child VHD is created which records changes to a computer. To restore the original state, the child VHD is exchanged when a computer is rebooted.
This extension is subjected to a fee and will be delivered as a bundle together with the extension opsi-local-image. This means that customers who have already purchased opsi-local-image can also use opsi-VHD-reset with their corresponding modules file.
