The opsi system of remote control of software packages and OS installation is based on the opsi-depotserver.
It is easy to install and test the opsi-depotserver.
- The easiest way is to use the preinstalled VMWare appliance. Fetch it from the opsi download server. And open it in your VMware player software which can be downloaded from vmware.com for any operating system.
- The other way is to install or use a Debian etch server and install the opsi packages. You have to include our directory in your /etc/apt/sources.list
Of course - in each case you must add your own Windows installation files to the opsi server file system.
The few steps you have to do for installing and updating the opsi appliance or another opsi server are described in the opsi-depotserver installation manual.
Everything should work without severe problems - but support or a tutoring may be required or helpful if you need to integrate the opsi server in your grown, specific networking landscape.
